PRETTY
A POEM BY BEN PARKER - 27/9/17
pretty petal
pretty flower
pretty branch
pretty crop
pretty field
pretty ranch
pretty window
pretty office
pretty tower
pretty second
pretty minute
pretty hour
pretty smile
pretty face
pretty frame
pretty words
pretty voice
pretty name
but through your eyes
tell me do you feel the same?
would this vision be blurred
if you had money or fame?
if somebody told you
life was more than a game?
if someone said it was for nothing
would it all be a shame?
sometimes my vision blurs
like a paint palette
like someone smashed the glass
with a mallet
these pills got my mind flipping
like a barbecue
i see my life in 3rd person
like my brain is a zoo
sobering confusion
i land hard when i fall
my to do list is hort
but my regret list stands tall
i could have done this
i should have said that
i would have made this
instead i stayed in and sat
on my ass
sip my glass
miss my class
roll my grass
light it up
reminisce over easy days
stub it out
go back to finding easy ways
to avoid what i should be doing
the paths i sshould be pursuing
fed up with my mentality
old habits i keep renewing
