FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS
A POEM BY BEN PARKER - 27/9/17
first world problems
that white folks be causing
where its normal for adultery
and parents divorcing
no care for the kids
we get stretched like ragdolls
daughters on stripper polls
sons on the pills each night
american dreams taking flight
but they never soar
the kids fall hard
theyre left sore
emotions as raw as the wounds
we suffer from every phrase
every insult
every disrespect
to our visions
reality continuing to make incisions
dissecting our universes
and how we'll never live out
the lives we want to
we wish we could help our elders
with all the fears that haunt you
you were all kids too
we know old age daunts you
but spring flowers dont see
life without the autumn
new ideas dont come without
the young minds that thought them
the tools to make this progress
comes from the elders that forged them
so pass on your toolkit
pass on your wisdom
teach us your lessons
to take on your kingdoms
