A POEM FOR DAUGHTERS
A POEM BY BEN PARKER - 27/1/17
though this mind flows like waterfalls
this river is not drinking water
save these words
for your daughter
just because theyre selling makeup
doesnt mean you have to buy it
just because boys demand for this and that
doesnt mean you dont have to supply it
and if you want to kiss a girl
embrace that feeling dont deny it
when you make decisions
make your bed and lie in it
be a shephard not a sheep
to avoid a heap
of boredom and simplicity
grow wild like flowers in the spring
keep these words
under your wing
as i watch you fly through
your childhood
dont be picky
make sure that you eat good
treat others the way
you know you should
be warm respectful
and keep your chin up
for every sad night
just remember the sun will come up
on a day
on a chance
to live your life to the max
i know you live in a world
long past brick phones and fax
but never sell yourself out
for that metal and glass
your friends may have more sass
and luck with boys
but never forget your self worth
dont turn into one of their toys
build yourself
build your wealth
build your health
and build your stealth
when you try to hide how drunk you are when i pick you up
from the adventures i hope you take on
taking on the world with every stride
your determination with turn the tide of your happiness
but for now just laugh at my dad jokes full of cringyness
